Our neighbors and state organizations revealed a campaign worth backing.

Our 2024 campaign earned support from two directions at once:

  1. The people down the street and

  2. the organizations doing the work statewide.

Neighbors across East Cobb, Roswell, and Woodstock spoke up about gun safety and their kids’ fear of school shootings, healthcare decisions and reproductive rights, and wanting a representative who actually listens instead of talking over them. Alongside those personal endorsements came formal backing from organizations like Georgia Equality, Planned Parenthood Georgia, Fair Fight, Georgia Conservation Voters, the Atlanta-North Georgia Labor Council, and more, groups whose endorsements reflect real vetting on issues from reproductive rights to voting access to labor to the environment.

Different kinds of validation, one conclusion: Our was a campaign worth backing.

We asked our Neighbors why they were voting for JD Jordan for State Senate to better represent East Cobb, Roswell, and Woodstock. They did not disappoint.

  • I'm Jay, a college student and neuroscientist living in Roswell who happens to be a woman.

    I'm voting for JD Jordan because I want to ensure I have the freedom and the right to pursue my ambitions in neuroscience here in Georgia, no matter what happens in my life.

    Our incumbent state senator is working to make sure I, one of his constituents, do not have that freedom. That is reprehensible.

    In a Nextdoor exchange over Labor Day weekend, when John Albers first accused me of being a deadbeat dad, he also made the above endorsement. I sought clarification twice and received no correction. Since he and I worked together at Slalom Consulting and since he’s my neighbor and has met me and my children, I’ll appreciate his endorsement.

  • At 42, I battled breast cancer.

    Knowing that a fellow cancer survivor like JD Jordan will fight in the GA Senate to safeguard the ACA, expand Medicaid, and defend pre-existing condition coverage gives me hope.

    Vote for fellow cancer survivor JD Jordan for the 56.

    When I first received my diagnosis, the first thing I worried about was my future access to health insurance and healthcare with this kind of pre-existing condition. I had already experienced many years earlier being denied coverage for less serious health conditions because they were considered pre-existing. After breaking the news to my parents my mom said that Obama had just passed the ACA which guaranteed anything related to my cancer would be covered in the future. I wouldn’t have to worry about being denied healthcare. Knowing that made a big difference in how I got through my treatments. Not having to worry about how I was going to pay for healthcare if I lost my job was a huge relief.

    I’m excited to vote for JD Jordan not just because he’s also a cancer survivor, or that I know him personally, but because I know he knows firsthand what it is like to get a devastating diagnosis and have that first thought be “crap, now I have a pre-existing condition”. No one should have to worry about access to affordable healthcare insurance and affordable healthcare. JD understands that and I know he’s the best candidate for SD56 to make sure all Georgians have access to affordable healthcare.

  • After the shooting in Winder, I emailed John Albers as a constituent to see what he was going to do.

    He did not respond.

    I was driving down the road completely despondent that I had to live in a district with a state senator who continues to prioritize the gun lobbyist over our children. I saw a John Albers sign and decided to call his office and talk to him directly. His legislative assistant answered and said “John hasn’t gotten back to me because he was busy leading the AI task force.” Incredulous—I asked “Is he up for election? And who is running against him?” Luckily this legislative assistant was incredibly helpful and directed me to learn more about JD Jordan.

    Since learning about JD, I agree in common sense gun laws. There is no logical reason for a civilian to have an automatic weapon. I have two daughters in public schools. I can’t stomach listening to another Republican legislator say we need to, “fortify our schools and arm teachers” in the name of safety and offering thoughts and prayers. Police officers go through incredible amounts of physical and mental training to shoot to kill. In what world do we think we should ask a kindergarten teacher to spend their weekends at the shooting range so they can defend their class? Not to mention, the shooter in Winder was a child. Do we really expect teachers to shoot children? And when the guns are in the school—and children are the shooters—”intruder drills” are only teaching children how to hunt each other. Like Coach Walz said “sometimes it’s just the guns.”

    Also, I have two daughters. I will not let them live in a state with a 6-week abortion ban. It’s cruel. It’s uncalled for. It’s killing women. JD trusts women. John Albers just wants to control women. I have also emailed John Albers about the 6-week abortion ban asking for a justification for denying women healthcare, and he will not respond to me.

    Last, I believe everyone should get to love and live how they choose.

    In short, John Albers does not care about his constituents. John Albers cares about being the best Trump cult member he can be.

  • We voted for JD Jordan because he believes that we should make healthcare decisions for me and our daughter.

    Albers would rather see me dead or in jail for my two late-term losses that required a D&C.

  • There have been 48 school shootings since Senator Albers became chair of the Public Safety committee [as of her writing]. It's time we elect a leader who will put people over guns.

    This district can be flipped. Vote for JD Jordan.

  • I could not endorse JD Jordan more if I tried. He has my full support and here is why:

    He is a father. I know lots of people have fathers, but very few people have fathers who will run for office to advocate and ensure a better future for them. If he’s willing to run for office for his kids, imagine how he will show up for you as a constituent!

    He believes in a better Georgia for ALL Georgians, not just a select few. As a mother, I know JD is someone who will stand up for my children’s safety in schools and in the world. I know that he will fight for my rights as a woman and the rights of every person in our beautiful state.

    I am honored to endorse JD Jordan … The only JD I will endorse this election cycle. Let’s work together to make a better, safer, more beautiful, and more inclusive Georgia. Our children are watching, let’s vote for their futures.

  • My name is Noël Heatherland, and as a constituent of Senate District 56 and an activist for human rights such as bodily autonomy and safety in our schools, I am personally endorsing JD Jordan for the 56 because of who he is as a person and our shared values. I believe in him and the work he can do so much, that in addition to my full-time job working in civic engagement across the state of Georgia, I also serve as political director for his campaign.

    Getting to know JD and his family during the time leading up to the election has been a joy and has only reinforced my commitment to vote for him and help him get elected. They are sincere people who care about the dignity and worth of each individual and our planet. JD has a solid understanding of what it’s like to work hard and still struggle and he also has a commitment to listen to the folx he represents. Having a Senator with capacity to listen and have compassion for my and others’ unique experiences is very important to me.

    I try to explain to every LGBTQIA+ person in Georgia and their allies that supporting the JD Jordan campaign in Senate district 56 is helpful for all LGBTQIA+ Georgians and their allies, regardless of where they live in our state because the current person in office is unwilling to truly listen to queer Georgians and their experiences with an open mind and open heart. When I have been at the Capitol and tried to speak with Albers on multiple occasions, he almost immediately shuts me down and says “Well, we are just going to have to disagree.” But how do you disagree with someone’s lived experience? My story is my story. Your story is your story. And we deserve a Senator who is interested in representing EVERYONE.

    ALL Georgians in Senate district 56 deserve someone that is willing to hold space for what they have lived through and their concerns for the future. Not only is Albers incapable of having a courteous and genuine conversation with a queer person who lives in his district, he is often responsible for the very legislation we need to advocate against, such as trying to ban books across GA that merely mention the existence of LGBTQIA+ people—we know that children learning about the existence of the LGBTQIA+ community can function as suicide prevention, as well as creating more inclusion and belonging for diversity inside our schools, preventing bullying of gay and transgender students. I have witnessed Albers quickly cutting off or speaking down to parents who live in his district, crying to him about what their transgender and gay children would experience under his legislation. But he doesn’t care to understand or help. JD does.

    We dream of a state where Georgians have what they need to be safe and thrive. Be a part of positive change. Be a part of something good. Support JD Jordan, Senate District 56.

  • JD Jordan is working to legitimately protect Georgia, his family, and reproductive rights.

    He knows that gun-safety laws reduce school shootings. That thought seems obvious, but John Albers has vetoed every gun safety bill that comes his way. 48 school shootings since Albers became chair of the Public Safety Committee is horridly unacceptable!

    I believe in JD Jordan and his ability to improve district 56 and Georgia in general. JD is good for business, safety, and education.

  • JD Jordan has my vote because I know he'll make healthcare a priority.

    As a disabled woman, access to affordable healthcare is essential. He also trusts women to make their own healthcare decisions. I believe that JD will listen to his constituents and will fight for us.

  • John Albers spends more time avoiding his constituents than serving them.

    Unlike every other representative in my district over the years (R or D), my state Senator has treated me with disdain and most egregiously—silence—especially on issues that directly affected my family and our community because of the legislation he supported.

    Silence since 2015. That's the most dishonorable thing a legislator can do.

    I'm supporting JD Jordan because he actively engages with people to hear what's on their hearts and minds as constituents, even if we disagree.

    Senator Albers left the most basic duty of his office long ago. Let's put someone in office who is ready to go to work for the entire 56th district!

  • I served in the US Navy for 26 years, upholding the traditions and core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment.

    JD Jordan embodies the values I hold dear for my family and for Georgia. His commitment to these principles is unwavering.

    The right for a woman to have dominion over her own body without asking permission from the state.

    The right for parents to have control over their children’s healthcare decisions.

    The right for our children to go to school and not be subjected to gun violence.

    All of these things John Albers has actively worked against, and it’s for this reason it's imperative that we elect JD Jordan as Georgia’s State Senator for the 56th Senate district in the upcoming election.

  • My daughter recently told me that a school shooting is her biggest fear. At school she evaluates how safe she is by how close she is to the school entrance.

    JD Jordan will support common sense gun laws to help keep our children safe. I support JD because he cares more about our kids than an A+ rating from the NRA.

  • As voters, teachers, public safety members, and community leaders, my family just prefers someone like JD Jordan who listens to constituents and seeks solutions that work for everyone, not his Party and personal attitudes.

    Albers is the proverbial empty suit and grifter we all know who misrepresents his accomplishments, makes it more dangerous for our children to go to school, and more dangerous for our pubic safety professionals to do their jobs in making our communities safer. Albers consistently makes misinformed decisions. Personally wouldn’t hire the guy but we all have to pay for his salary, benefits and blockheadedness.

    We believe JD Jordan wouldn’t leave GA constituents without healthcare and he’d actually take public forums to listen to all.

Institutional support.

It takes money, attention, and talent to change our state senate. So, it was with tremendous gratitude that our campaign welcomed the help of 17 endorsing or recognizing institutions. Together, we worked together to make Georgia a freer, more just, and more representative place for everyone.

  • The Atlanta-North Georgia Labor Council is an organization on a mission to improve the lives of working families so as to bring economic justice to the workplace and social justice to our community. To accomplish this mission they’re building and constantly seeking to improve the American labor movement at a time when 71% of Americans support unions—the highest level in nearly 60 years!

    The Atlanta North Georgia Labor Council is comprised of 18 Metro-Atlanta counties including Butts, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Newton, Paulding, Rockdale, Spalding, and Walton with 60 affiliated unions with approximately 70,000 members. They are one of nearly 500 state and local labor councils of the AFL-CIO and are the heart of the labor movement. They are democratically elected bodies dedicated to representing the interests of working people at the state and local level. They mobilize members and community partners to advocate for social and economic justice and we strive daily to vanquish oppression and make our communities better for all people—regardless of race, color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, or ethnic or national origin.

  • The Center for Freethought Equality PAC was the first Political Action Committee (PAC) to endorse our campaign for the 56!

    The Center for Freethought Equality is the advocacy and political arm of the American Humanist Association, a group that advocates for issues the humanist and atheist community cares about like the separation of church and state, protecting civil liberties, and advancing progressive policies. (As you might guess, we had a lot of chat about )

  • Climate Cabinet is an organization focused on empowering local and state policymakers to address the climate crisis effectively. They use data science, technology, and policy expertise to identify key opportunities for climate action across the United States. By leveraging their extensive database of local climate data, Climate Cabinet helps decision-makers access the information they need to implement impactful climate policies.

    The organization plays a vital role in supporting climate-focused candidates in elections, ensuring they have the resources and strategies necessary to win and legislate on climate issues. They have been involved in numerous successful campaigns and policy initiatives, particularly in states like Michigan and Minnesota, where they helped secure majorities for climate champions.

    In addition to electoral support, Climate Cabinet provides local leaders with policy solutions, messaging strategies, and data-driven insights, enabling them to act quickly and efficiently in the fight against climate change.

  • Our campaign was awarded the 2024 “Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate” distinction by the Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund. This approval is in recognition of our advocacy for gun-violence prevention and our commitment to governing with gun safety in mind.

    On average, more than 110 Americans are shot and killed every day—and twice that many are wounded. And some 58% of American adults report they, or someone they care for, have experienced gun violence in their lifetime. That’s why we must address gun violence in all its forms.

    Guns are also the leading cause of death for our children but our opponent, as chairman of the Senate Public Safety Committee, is the primary obstacle for gun-safety studies and action in the Georgia legislature. As a state Senator, I'll push for gun-safety measures that make our homes and schools safer for everyone without trampling on the rights of responsible gun owners.

  • Fair Districts GA is a non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting fair redistricting in Georgia. They focus on fighting gerrymandering to ensure that electoral districts are drawn in a way that accurately represents the population. The group provides resources for understanding redistricting, advocates for reforms, and engages with legislators and the public to push for fair maps. They also offer tools to help Georgians find their voting districts and encourage public involvement in the redistricting process.

    On their choice to recognize out campaign, they had this to say on Instagram:

    “Reading his daily blogs posted during last year’s redistricting special session, we aren’t surprised that JD Jordan took the fair districts pledge. JD is a candidate for SD 56 and we agree with his assessment: ‘a long-term and well-tested solution to our contentious and partisan map-drawing process would be the creation of an Independent Redistricting Commission.’”

  • Fair Fight is a political action committee (PAC) founded in 2018 by Stacey Abrams, the Democratic politician and voting rights activist. Its primary goal is to address voter suppression, promote fair elections, and ensure that all eligible voters have equal access to the ballot box, particularly in Georgia, but also nationwide.

    The organization came into prominence during the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial race, where Abrams lost to Republican Brian Kemp amid widespread accusations of voter suppression. Kemp, who was Georgia's Secretary of State at the time, oversaw the election, which led to concerns about conflicts of interest and voter disenfranchisement, particularly among Black and minority voters.

    Fair Fight works by advocating for changes in voting laws, providing voter education, organizing voter registration drives, and supporting litigation efforts against voter suppression tactics. It has expanded its mission to include advocating for reforms in election policies across multiple states, particularly focusing on issues like restrictive voter ID laws, purging of voter rolls, and barriers to early and absentee voting.

    The group played a significant role in mobilizing voters for the 2020 presidential election and the 2021 Georgia Senate runoffs, which resulted in two Democratic victories, contributing to the Democratic Party's control of the U.S. Senate.

    Fair Fight also focuses on expanding access to the democratic process for marginalized communities, including people of color, low-income individuals, and young voters. It's seen as a progressive force within the Democratic Party, advocating for greater inclusivity and transparency in elections.

  • Georgia Conservation Voters is an organization on a mission to transform Georgia's political landscape by electing leaders with conservation values and holding them accountable to implementing policies that ensure clean water and air, abundant wildlife, scenic landscapes and economic opportunities for all Georgians.

    We were further thrilled that they invited me to speak at their GCVIP Earth Day Happy Hour on April 24, 2024 to a wonderful group of politically engaged thought leaders, legislators, and candidates.

    Apparently, I had the quote of the night. I began talking about how it isn’t enough to fight for social rights if we’re not also good stewards of the environment and make sure there’s enough of our state left to exercise those rights in. And that—similar to how our state is mishandling public education—our legislators often put their short-term interests ahead of the voters’ longitudinal needs.

    “It’s not about my privilege. It’s about your rights!”

    The Georgia Conservation Voters (GCV) family of organizations includes the Georgia Conservation Voters Education Fund and the Georgia Conservation Voters Action Fund. The Georgia Conservation Voters Education Fund (GCVEF) mobilizes Georgians to advance climate and environmental justice through education, advocacy, and other forms of civic engagement. Working together, these entities hold Georgia legislators and policy makers accountable for their conservation votes and actions.

  • Georgia Equality is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing fairness, safety, and opportunity for LGBTQ+ communities and their allies in Georgia. Founded in 1995, it is the largest statewide organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals through advocacy, education, and political engagement.

    Georgia Equality focuses on a variety of issues, including fighting against discrimination, advocating for inclusive policies, and promoting public awareness about LGBTQ+ rights. The organization engages in legislative lobbying, supports pro-equality candidates, and organizes grassroots campaigns to build support for LGBTQ+ issues throughout the state. They also provide resources and training to help individuals and organizations advocate for LGBTQ+ equality effectively.

    LGBTQ+ equality issues were some of the main drivers for our family deciding to run for office—it means to world to us to carry Georgia Equality’s endorsement and to have developed such great relationships with the leaders in the organization.

  • Georgia High School Democrats is the state’s premier youth organization with a proven record of success. The organization—run by students Nate Whipple (a resident of the 56, no less!) and Yohance Badyal—focuses on electing Democrats up and down the ballot.

    Of our campaign for State Senate District 56 and Micheal Garza’s campaign for House District 46, GAHSD said:

    “We’re proud to endorse both JD Jordan and Micheal Garza for the state house and senate! These two are fighters for youth in the Cobb and Cherokee areas, and will build on their work in the state legislature.”

  • Georgia Stonewall Democrats is an LGBTQ+ advocacy organization within the Democratic Party.

    Georgia Stonewall Democrats work to advance LGBTQ+ rights in Georgia, focusing on political activism, policy advocacy, and supporting candidates who champion LGBTQ+ issues. The group is part of a national network of Stonewall Democrats and collaborates with local communities to ensure that the voices and concerns of the LGBTQ+ population are represented in politics. They often endorse candidates and work to increase voter participation among LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.

  • Georgia Working Families Party is a grassroots independent political organization that works to elect candidates committed to economic, racial, social, gender, and environmental justice!

    When endorsing our campaign, The Georgia Working Families Party said:

    “JD Jordan is a father who wants the best for all of our kids. Running to represent Senate District 56, [he] is ready to fight for our freedoms and deliver a better future for everyone in Georgia.”

    The Georgia Working Families Party uses the power they generate through their electoral and organizing work to win tangible victories that make a real difference for working families. Together we’re building a movement of working families to build a Georgia for the many, not the few.

  • The Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) and its political action committees anchor their support around candidates committed to protecting reproductive rights and expanding healthcare access.

  • The Progressive Turnout Project is the largest voter contact organization in the US focused on mobilizing Democratic voters and defending democracy.

    Using data-driven strategies, they aim to increase voter turnout by engaging directly with voters through grassroots initiatives like canvassing, phone banking, and postcard campaigns. Funded by small donations from supporters, their efforts have contributed to Democratic victories across the country.

    The Progressive Turnout Project also offers a Grant Program designed to empower grassroots organizations and campaigns focused on increasing voter engagement and turnout, particularly among underrepresented communities. These grants provide up to $250,000 to organizations working in key states like Arizona, Georgia, Florida, and Pennsylvania. The goal is to fund innovative, community-based voter contact strategies that complement the Progressive Turnout Project’s broader efforts to mobilize Democratic voters.

  • Red Clay Democrats is a Georgia state Political Action Committee (PAC) dedicated to organizing, fundraising, and mobilizing voters to advance Democratic participation across Georgia. The group specifically focuses on supporting strategic Democratic candidates running in competitive, flippable, and defensible Georgia State House and Senate races, rather than participating in federal-level contests.

  • Vote Common Good is a national voter-outreach organization that targets white Evangelical and white Catholic voters, urging them to resist the reflexive urge to support Trumpism, Christian Nationalism, and Republicans. Common Good also does candidate engagement, including training, messaging coaching, and support.

    Candidates for Common Good have committed themselves to leading with values consistent with using the common good as a guiding principle in how they govern, what policies they advocate, and the ways in which they interact with both voters and other candidates for office.

    It’s not about agreeing on policy solutions. It’s an agreement on a shared value of putting the needs of people first.

    Candidates for Common Good have taken the Vote Common Good Love-In-Politics Pledge:

    THE LOVE-IN-POLITICS PLEDGE

    The Love-in-Politics Pledge calls faith-full voters to support candidates who pledge to comport themselves in their public and political lives in ways of love consistent with 1 Corinthians 13.

    As people of faith, we do not seek to elect only those who believe as we do. We believe that our faith calls us to advocate for the common good for all.

    For that reason, we will elect leaders who commit to an ethic of love in their public and political lives.

    We believe God is love—1 John 4:8 says, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” And, we believe love is manifest in ways that are consistent with the description of love in 1 Corinthians 13.

    To this end we are calling on all of our elected leaders to lead in the way of love.

    Therefore, we make these four commitments:

    1. I will call on all elected leaders to comport themselves in ways consistent with love in their public and political lives.

    2. I will support elected leaders who do so.

    3. I will stand up to and call for a change from elected leaders who violate the virtues of love.

    4. I will call on elected officials to demand other public officials comport themselves in ways consistent with love.

    Of our campaign for State Senate District 56, Common Good chose to quote something I said in our original interview:

    “I’m led by the Stoic concept of Summum Bonum—the highest good—and want to bring this to the people of my State Senate district by committing to talking to, listening to, and working for everyone, not just those ideologically aligned with my party affiliation.

    “To see this through, I want to see the state legislature adopt a proactive constituent-experience platform to facilitate communication and transparency and to help voters hold their representative accountable.”

  • Vote Pro Choice is a political advocacy organization focused on electing pro-choice candidates at all levels of government.

    Vote Pro Choice’s mission is to build political power for reproductive freedom—especially abortion access—by endorsing candidates and providing comprehensive voter guides. They focus on key elections, including local and state races, and offer resources like voter registration, personalized guides, and election information. They also work on mobilizing pro-choice voters through grassroots campaigns and partnerships with organizations like Planned Parenthood.

  • Voters of Tomorrow is a youth-led organization that mobilizes young people to participate in democracy.

    Voters of Tomorrow’s focus is on engaging, representing, and empowering Generation Z through activism, voter turnout initiatives, and advocacy campaigns. In 2022, they reached millions of young voters, organized on campuses across the U.S., and helped shape the political discourse for their generation. The organization offers opportunities to join local chapters, volunteer, and get involved in building a movement for democracy.
